TRIGGER WARNINGS for sexual assault and police violence.
Sara one of the tent monsters at Occupy Melbourne was just violently ripped out of her tent clothing by police, with a knife, and left on the ground in her underwear. In public.
When she confronts them (in the next video linked below) and asks to put in a report for sexual assault, police LAUGH at her and won’t help, say they are ‘satisfied’ with the way they acted http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSq6tPXJHZ4
Imagine if you were I dunno, in a banana suit for a fun run and 10 people came up to you and ripped the suit off with violently a knife, even though you said NO, and said you were not clothed underneath, and left you on the street in your underwear, cowering. I’d call that sexual assault. I don’t see how its any different because she is wearing a tent as a part of humorous aside to a serious protest.
Her face and her body language. She is in shock. They used knives and took it off very violently, even tho she told them she was only in her underwear. And they LEFT HER THERE. No enquiry or thought to her wellbeing. If you really need to get someone out of tent, take them somewhere safe and make sure they have something to change in to, or, you know, just stop being so fucking up yourself as ‘law enforcers’ that you spend your days humiliating people for fun. PIGS.
EDIT: This is the full footage, be prepared because it is shocking and very distressing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtwuGAOR9a4 - so what rights to protest are there now, of human rights, when police can now define sexual assault as a ‘satisfactory’ response to non-violent protest?
Also see the post at Fat and Sassy which elucidates more on the law and VIc charter of rights.
